"Our foster family..."
What has 16 (maybe 20) legs, 8 (maybe 10) mouths and lots of personality and charm? If you guessed a sweet foster family, you would be correct. In early 2018, the Good News Sunday School class at Clemson United Methodist Church prayerfully considered several "projects" that would let us "be the hands and feet of Christ." Lindsay Alexander and Abby Crooks had both spoken to our church about ways to be involved with Fostering Faithfully and the class decided that we would "adopt " a foster family and provide a meal for them each week. After presenting this idea to Abby, she immediately gave us the name of a family and we got organized and started cooking. For the last 20 months, we have provided a meal almost every week while learning about the very real trials of a foster family. Court dates, hospital visits, and dealing with all the trauma that foster children bring with them have become our heartache too. But happy smiles and laughs, adoption parties, and the joy those foster children bring have also become part of our lives.
We love "our" foster family. We love being a small part of their world. Any small group or class in any church can do this! In addition to offering a meal to help nourish the family, this small effort is such a blessing to us!
